Hi.I recently tried to install OSx86 on laptop.I chose iPC10.5.6 because it's the only distro that says to me "Still waiting for root device" when I try to boot from the installation DVD.When the installer booted,I went to the Disk Utility to format an NTFS partition to an HFS+ one.But Disk Utility doesn't detect my HDD at all.I've googled it,I searched the InsanelyMac forum, but I had no luck.
Any kind of help is appreciated!

System specs: Processor:AMD Sempron SI 42. Motherboard:Wistron 303C Graphics:nVidia GeForce 8200M G. Hard Drive:Toshiba 2555GSX ATA Device(250GB) Chipset:nVidia GeForce 8200M

Thanks in advance!

I've tried iAtkos v7.It says "Still waiting for root device" during the installer boot. And I can't afford to buy a new laptop.I may buy a new desktop at summer, but not now.

if it says that, its because your missing achi support.. try and go into bios and set your harddisk as IDE/ATA (if you can)

I've been told to do that before. The only problem is that my BIOS hasn't got that kind of options.

you could always just run it in a virtual machine... much simpler (yes i know you will not get all the funky visual stuff like Quartz Extreme!)
Easier to test though,
i made a tutorial last month, and yes i know my speaking is baddddddd

And before you say its not legal, i know it isn't technically, but then neither is installing it at all on any pc....

I don't know if I'm running the latest BIOS update but I won't risk it and flash my BIOS.I think it's too risky and I'm afraid that I will fry my motherboard.

2 of my videos have revenue sharing on them. Because my videos got numerous views quite quickly, a notice popped up on the youtube homepage asking me to set it up. 1 month on and £20 in my google adsense account, however needs to get to £60 before they actually give it me via a cheque etc. so annoying!

Some BIOS (like mine) seem to hide the AHCI feature in the harddisk settings as "compatible" where default setting is "extended". Maybe you can find something like that? In compatible mode you can also decide which sATA/pATA ports are called by BIOS and in what order.
