Dear friends, I need your help. I'm new to macs but I'm happy that my experience with macs starts from iMac G3! First off all sorry for my bad English - I'm from Ukraine, so please excuse me =) I have the following problem: when I start my iMac G3 it does not load. It makes a sound like "tada..." (chime) and then display becomes grey (it is started but no text is showing). If I press and hold the button on the side with a pen (i do not know how this button is called) I receive the following screen:
Can please someone experienced person advise me what to do?
P.S. I have the CD inserted to the drive and I can not eject it. If I type "eject cd" in this menu it is thinking for a long time and does not do anything. My mac freezes. But if I type "eject abcd" for example it say that this is unknown command. What to do with CD-ROM? I need to know how to exctract the disk to place the CD with operating system.

Hi
The screen is the OpenFirmware (like a BIOS in a PC).
To boot from CD, you must press "C" on boot on the keyboard. And to eject a CD, press the bouton on the mouse while you boot the iMac, it's the way to eject a CD when you have a problem.

If the computer is off, turn it on. Hold down the C key to attempt to boot from the CD drive. I don't know what boot CD it is but it must be less than 10.6 Snow Leopard (I don't know if the first gen iMac can run 10.5), or higher than 8.6 (the first gen iMac, later ones were 9.0.4 IIRC).
The proper boot noise is more like "Bonng...." If it is like "TeehDeehd" then the computer probably failed the hardware test.
If the CD is proper, like 10.2 Jaguar and the CD doesn't work (no response from the computer) than you have hardware issues. If the Open Firmware method doesn't work then you'll have to eject the CD manually by either the mouse button (left button if it is a two button mouse) method or by inserting a paper clip to the right of the drive slot (google for images on that).
