Well, it finally happened. I never thought it would, but is has.
See, this is the thing. I hate Apple, for numerous reasons. I'm not getting into it for fear of a flamewar, but suffice to say I am as Applephobic as they come. Well, at least I was...
See, they had to go and release this thing called the iPhone and the iPod Touch, and now I'm hooked. My iPhone has become my primary, well, everything! I barely touch my PC anymore except for the odd game, and even then i'd rather play some of the iPhone games anyway! The thing that had really turned me is that Apple have done it right. The iPhoneOS is really simple to use but packed with features, the touch UI is second to none. I mean, compare tablet PC touch or WinMo touch or even Android touch, and none of them come even close. Apples touch UI is so responsive and accurate. Best of all, a HUGE list of interesting and clever apps are avaliable for the iPhoneOS, and the majority are $1.12 each! I can buy 50 iPhoneOS apps for the price of one midrange PC app!
So yeah, I guess this is a confessional thread as well as discussion thread. Has anybody else had a similar experience with an iPhone or iPod Touch? How does your device treat you? Are you a convert or a born turtlenecker?

Are there any problems you have found with the iphone and ipod touch? The reason i dont have one or really used one is because its alot of money for a phone and its really just a phone, is it really worth $1000 AU. Also its Apple, i dont like Apple and i may never but thats from personal experence with the Macintosh. If i knew they were worth it and were not so expensive i probably would get one. But since i have really always been a Windows user im not sure that i would pay that much for a device i know nothing about. Sure they look good, are easy to use and etc... but are they worth all that money for what you get. But i probably wouldnt get a Windows Mobile Phone iether, i dont know, its just a waste of money. I have been told a number of things about the iphone and itouch but are they really that good.
Tell me what you think about it?....Maybe you can convince me to get one like how you ended up getting one.

I don't really like new Apple stuff, first because of the price and second because of all the reports I hear about the iDevices having exploding batteries. Anything that's Apple that I like is PowerPC G3 and older.

They need to stop selling the ONE iPhone, at least have one that supports different GSM 3G frequencies. (Anyone who says it should support CDMA should be shot)

Thats true. Them being GSM would be a big downfall for me as i live in the country and we need to use Telstra's Next G most of the time. Where as if some lives in the city, signal is no problem.

You've lost me on this one. Aren't all iPhones Quad Band with support for Telstra's weird frequency?

I've had my iPod Touch since about a month ago and I use it ALL THE TIME, literally. (For anyone curious, it's a 8GB jailbroken 3.1.2 2nd gen.)
Therefore, you can probably guess that I can't wait for the iPad to come out. When it comes out and I have $500, the iPad is going to burn a hole in my pocket! (In a good way.)

No its only GSM. Not Next G. Thats a major problem for all people who live out of cities or even go 10km out of town. Therefore Next G is the option since CDMA was taken over. But most phones are only GSM which is what most of Australia uses i know.

Wrong. It supports GSM Quadband and 3G 850/1900/2100Mhz. Telstra Next G is 3G 850Mhz. Anyone on Optus/Voda loses with no 3G 900Mhz support.
And no, most phones in Australia don't use GSM anymore. 3G is big.

I have never used an Apple product, and I am proud of myself. I prefer Microsoft where possible, and I try to avoid Apple like how we humans avoid death.
I just don't like Apple's way of doing business. Proprietary hardware can go out the windows for me...

1st Gen 8GB iTouch i use more as a PDA then a MP3 player, hoping to replace it with a 32GB iTouch and a 64GB Wi-Fi iPad if i make money for both this summer, with the iPad being the higher priority.

It's not proprietary hardware, it's a locked-in platform.
