Hello all,

Some of you might have already noticed the change but when you reply to a topic etc the reply window is bigger. This is because I got sick of it being so small when writing large posts that I decided to make it bigger. It does look a bit messy now, but I will try and clean it up a bit!

Ah, that's not too much of an issue. At least you haven't stretched it wider, because that really would annoy me on my Eee, but I'm used to scrolling down now

I deliberately made sure it fit to 1024x768 resolution. I don't design any higher. I did stretch it about 150px wider and made the buttons above bigger by 20px each too.

It will take a while to get used to, but it will be useful to those posts that are just a little bit longer.

Wow, that is big. Any chance of something like the text box when you're writing a post in WordPress? (Theres a little part where you can drag it to make it bigger, like a window in your OS).

I'll see if I can come up with some simple JavaScript to make it bigger when you press a button/link like in other forum software (e.g. vBulletin), but no guarantees!

The upgrade to phpBB3 will not be any time soon, I can assure you. I have a lot of crap happening at the moment its a wonder I have the time to keep BA online!

No. It resets back to default at the moment.

Its the same height as the original but about 150px wider. The new feature allows a bigger height. I've not used JavaScript cookies before so I'm not so sure how difficult it would be to introduce such a feature as to save the height for your preferences. A lot of people hate cookies anyway so maybe its not worth it. I also noticed that vBulletin that has this feature doesn't save the height either. But, I think I might have to make it save because when you preview, doesn't it go back to the original size?

Firstly, I just tried that out and it's pretty cool.

Secondly, I don't know how many people here use Safari so a bigger-resizable box is quite an advantage for those bigger posts.

How about saving it in the user's profile (or at least as a PHP session variable)?

I think saving as a cookie would be by far the easiest method. PHP Session would only exist the length the user is logged in and often I get logged out many times even during one visit. (and it's insecure to keep myself logged in!)

Adding to the profile would require db mods and would -probably- make phpBB 3 update that big harder.
