The recent outage was caused by a series of crashed services, which included FTP, DNS and E-mail. Unfortunately nobody notified me of these issues and as my e-mail was down I didn't receive any down notifications. I only noticed when my homepage wouldn't load.

Apologies to anyone trying to get to the site or download at the time.

Andy (Admin)

EDIT: I've now put into a place a fail-safe that restarts crashed/stopped services every 10 minutes to reduce the impact of this happening in future.

Heh, it just went up on FileZilla's second connection retry just now. How long was the server down for, because it was up last time I was on (which I think was an hour ago but I'm not sure)?

According to the graphs, about 50 minutes. HTTP and MySQL was up, but as DNS was very few people could get to the site, only those who had it cached could.

Just wondering, do you know what caused the services to crash?

Well some people complained the site was slow, so I restarted some of the services. Presumably some of them didn't come back up and I didn't realise.

You are aware every browser has a cache?

I personally consider it bad practice to cache whole sites though - if it's offline, it shouldn't just load the cached version.
