I've been informed the remaining blocks are now removed. The FTP should work for everyone now.

If you can't access the FTP, please ping the address. If it does not ping, run a tracert on it and PM it to me. DO NOT POST IT HERE.

This will help me find where the issue is and so I can report it to the data center. Thank you.

The blocks have supposedly been lifted. Can everyone who couldn't access it before please try again, and let me know if you still can't access it.

Thanks. :)

Offtopic Comment
In fact I lost my entire Internet connection for some reason and contacted my internet provider and they tested my connection and said nothing was wrong. Stupid Windows Vista cant even connect to the internet properly.

Its kinda odd that a DDOS would cause database corruption isn't it? Maybe somethin else is happening as well?

The forced reboot caused the corruption as database tables hadn't been fully written to disk. It's always a risk if you don't/can't cleanly shut down on any system.

Someone seems to think it was funny to DDoS the site, so we went down for a while and it corrupted the DB. No fret, we're back.

There is 80Mbps of incoming DDoS bandwidth at the moment, but OVH is holding it off.

Andy (Admin)

:o Here goes...

Stupid question: What does DDoS mean? Apparently this is the one technological topic that escaped my knowledge. :? Sounds unfortunate, though.

If it happens again (which probably is going to happen at some time), can't we dos the attacker(s) to reduse pressure on the server?

No, because:

1. That would be illegal
2. They have far more resources than we do
3. The computers doing it are likely zombie machines so you're not attacking the attacker only some innocent person whose computer is being used as a part of the attack
4. We don't know who the attackers are to begin with nor can we find out when it's a DDoS
