Now this, is official. Posted by MS on Twitter. They probably blurred out some part as they didn't want us to know about 'Consumer Preview' branding.

As we can see, the theme seems a bit different. (Look at the close, maximize, minimize buttons)

Also, SHOW DESKTOP SEEMS TO BE GONE! (The one introduced in Windows 7)

It's a collection of leaked development VMFs (Valve Map Files) from Half Life 2. Many of which didn't make it into the final game. It has things with the borealis, the old citadel, and also concepts and gameplay mechanics.

Websites usually don't put it on mobile versions but they might leave like a small banner or text somewhere pointing to SOPA or whatever, its optimized for mobile not PC and most mobile browsers are really slow.

There is a reason for doing that.
I really need my drivers and such installed in XP to work in these builds because they use Windows Update when installed. Especially the sound, and video devices in 5048.

Well, although that is quite a good idea in theory, for such cases as mine, where I'm really looking for specific models of components, it doesn't work out in practice. For looking up specific models, eBay is a much better choice in that regard.

Anyway, my primary system's new floppy disk drive is from ScanDisk, and as with my old one, is also a 1.44 MB USB model, so once it arrives, and once I've installed it in my system, I'll be sure to create the disk images of MS-DOS 6.0 for my system.

I had the src from ThePirateBay and stumbled upon this thread when scouring Google for fixes. I used the newer files from the OP (I downloaded it on the russian thread). I don't know if I'm missing out on something or I'm completely stupid, but when I build the src in VS2005 (which I assume is an IDE and I would think it links too), all I get is Object files in /Intermediate/. I can run DemoGame/UtGame/WarGame fine, but there's nothing else. I don't have UnrealEd, etc.
On the russian site is two version of that engine, be sure that you have the biggest...

I'm probably going to run this in VMware if the VMware tools works in order to take it apart look in the registry as well as other pieces of the software there you go. I wish Vmware 8 would work with windows 8 completely so transferring stuff was not a pain in the @$$ since you have to make a ISO each time.
VMware Tools works OK in my VM which uses WDP as guest OS, including copying files between host & guest.
When it comes to WCP, it should also work.

The problem is: We don't know which file block "Express Upgrade" functionality in Windows LH Betas setup.
I was thinking that is only text/registry switch in some file in source folder on dvd, but I search in all possible files except install.wim, and I found nothing.

I think that switch must be in boot image (WinPE) somewhere in install.wim, but even suppose that I will find, I do not know how to properly repacked install.wim file. Because I've xImage (all versions) for LH but probably I'm doing something wrong order, however, if I find the specific file, Is there someone what will know how to repackage the install.wim?

we already have NT 3.1 Advanced Server, but just only build 511, 528 of Advanced Server was uploaded on megaupload by louisw3, but it was shutdown by the FBI, and I still have build 528 of Advanced Server.

Wonderful I did something like that on may last year! As for my experience the hardest things were to remove the old Ni-Cd battery that was soldered on the mobo (also find a replacement) and to configure the system to see 2x2Gb hdd's as you have to set manually the values in bios and then use "Disk Manager" from ontrack to overcome the non-LBA limit of 504 Mb (but this messes up if you have a bootmanager to chose between 2 Os). As for getting old hardware, the best thing is to go to your local dumper and ask for that (no one is interested in such old machines), there I found many hdd's (also the 2 mounted on my system), a few isa audio cards with IDE connection (to connect the CD-Rom as my mobo's bios bibn't support cd-rom), many isa 3Com Etherlink 2 and 3, a bunch of SIMM's modules ecc...
In case you need anything, post here on the forum
By the way, the machine I restored it's a packard bell FORCE with Intel 486 DX1, 8Mb of ram (SIMM modules), 2Gb WD + 2Gb Maxtor HDD's, ESS sound card, 12x CD-Rom, 3Com etherlink III adapter and SCSI BusLogic adapter (was layng around and I put it inside). Currently runs windows 95, but I would upgrade to a dual boot with windows 3.11..

I got it working Just made a copy of all maps with _dx60 suffix. The funny thing is that framerate is much higher than in retail version.

That is normal
If you're changing opengl to d3d it chnages but there's still opengl shown. I've got exatcly the same version and have no problems. I think it is driver related.

Well, since you don't have FTP access yet, file sharing is your only option if you're so eager to share. Or you can wait for FTP access. And you can first tell us what you have so you won't waste time uploading it in case we already have it...

I doubt it'd have your desired effect, and would most likely serve to break rather than fix, but you won't have much luck. In the 5048 sources folder, there's a preupgradenotice.txt that says this:

** Drivers do not migrate **

Some drivers (e.g. out-of-box video drivers) do not migrate. You’ll need to reinstall drivers for now. Going forward, more robust driver migration will be supported. (Bug 1061700)

Even if you do bypass version check, I doubt drivers will get migrated.

I did check it myself, and it's certainly true. More strange is the v5.5 though - Longhorn was always v6.0, so I'm guessing these are just filler text. I suspect it was likely someone knew about the Vista name by 5048 anyway, "Windows 2006" was probably just an easy decoy/placeholder.

I can let a small amount of ignorance slide, but blatant idiocy is not tolerated. Proper English is one of the forum rules. If you can't speak or type it, don't post until you can. Simple as that. Foreign languages have translators. Translators usually also translate punctuation. If you CBA to type and use the shift key or punctuation, then I CBA to read it or listen to excuses when I give you a site warning.

TBH, Macs are pointless unless you want to take advantage of software such as Aperture, Pro Tools and Final Cut Pro. Also, Pro Tools is fun.
Around about 7-ish.
Or if you happen to appreciate the superior build quality/want to run the operating system without breaking the EULA.

When a site you rely one decides to go "on strike" (like during the recent SOPA protest) chances are you can use their mobile version, I was able to access wikipedia in this manner

From what I have unfortunately most of the stuff is on the FTP and a slow connection kinda kills it.

I usually personally go for All - in - one disks but I can get you customized copies but it will be slow.

I personally believe that Win8 is the codename 'Blackcomb' OS that Microsoft envisioned years ago. It really seems like Windows 7 was infact the 'Vienna' stepping stone for MS, and 8 will be yet another huge jump. No more start button - yeah, it'll be a pain to re-learn the OS, but it is for the better. The standard keyboard/mouse input device is old, and not where PC input devices are headed - with this in mind, along with the recent Kinect release for Windows, it's very obvious, at least to me, that Microsoft wants to get in on the ground floor of next-gen input devices.

You can actually purchase at this point in time, a device that will 'read' your head/eye movements and select items on a computer screen - if I were in the hotseat at Microsoft, and trying to push development past the keyboard/mouse, I'd certainly remove anything hindering future performance of the OS's interface. The Start button has run its course - hell, most of the time, I launch apps via cmd or run, so the absolute need for a place to start off isn't really needed anymore, barring that one can pin a program to the taskbar, we're all set.

While everyone's on the grammar bandwagon, let me rant on a related topic: spelling.
It's so sad when the majority of people in most native English-speaking countries fail to spell even the most simplest of words correctly. What's even worse is not just text talk, but people using "13375P34K" in ordinary speech. For example, "LOL THAT WAS SO FUNNY!". <- So is that person's way of communication. Also, people who start using American English in the UK, they need a bloody backhand across their face. Not just that though, people who fail to spell simple words. Of course I accept the fact certain people have certain issues, such as dyslexia etc. However, laziness and ignorance is no excuse for failure to learn a person's own language fluently. It's not as if they are mistakes people may make on the odd occasion. Put it this way, I'm in top set English and there are a handful of people who can spell properly. I could probably count on one hand the amount of people who can spell correctly in my class.

tl;dr: ENGLISH MOTHERF***ER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?!?!

I'd love to see somebody go to a job interview, speaking non-standard English and possessing any relevant documents written in "txttalk".

As far as I can tell, the RAC GUID is just used for tracking Windows 8 builds as they go around.

9. Enforcement or excludenent of features' policies (fully customizable, example policy: Shell-InBoxGames-Solitaire-EnableGame), for the given Application ID and SKU ID. This is where SLC calls for RP-permissions for locked features.

One lab don't know about the features of an other lab. All labs are building based on a recent code from WinMain, where all the labs' code is consolidated. If the lab's key is used, the features of that lab activate and become usable per above RAC system, ELSE the build is no difference from the corresponding WinMain code, that this lab's build was built against at it's time. Meaning: if fbl_srv_wdacxml (Windows Server Data Access Components XML) is installed with the default key, it isn't differ from the corresponding winmain build and you cannot know which changes are tweaked to precisely that component and how that component differ from WinMain code.

Note: not an official statement, just my opinion based on my digging in the SLC system that described before.

Okay okay you guys! lol i'm hearing too much arguing, so I'm going to cut straight to it, once and for all. To have both Windows 8 and Windows 7 in a dual-boot system, it's quite simple. As stated above, have windows 7 installed FIRST, partition your drive to a reasonable size (I like to do 40 GB for Win8 if I don't intend on having a bunch of stuff on it, but you can go bigger if you wish) then pop in your Windows Developer Preview DVD and install it to your new partition.

Great! Now reboot to discover.... Oh no! Now it only boots into Windows 8? How can I boot 7?? No problem, head on over to EasyBCD's download page where you can use it for FREE NON-COMMERCIAL use. If you intend to use it for commercial purposes, please support the company and make a purchase. Now that you installed it to Windows 8 Dev. Preview, launch EasyBCD and click on the button labeled "Add new entry" Select Windows 7, point it to your Windows 7 partition letter, click "Add entry".

After that, click "Edit Boot Menu" on the left, and make sure that "Windows Developer Preview" and "Microsoft Windows 7" are 2 menu items existing in the list. If there are other menu items, and they belong there, don't touch them! Now, if you want Windows 7 to be the default menu item, check the box next to the name. If you want Windows 8 to be the default menu item, check its box instead. Now, click "Save Settings" at the bottom, and reboot.

Tadaaa!!! The native Windows Bootloader will present to you 2 menu items that you can boot from respectively.

If you have any issues, please let me know and I will work you through them.

Excuse the double post, but I have more information regarding my situation:

My system's 1.44 MB floppy disk drive (USB) stopped working properly, so I'm purchasing a new one. This means that I won't be able to easily extract even the MS-DOS 6.0 files from the disk images that I have, and I even tried my copies of MS-DOS 6.2 and MS-DOS 6.22, only to find that neither of them are bootable, even though MS-DOS Setup requires you to boot from the Setup Disk 1 in the exact same way as Microsoft intended for you to do.

Because of this, my rebuilding of my system has been put on hold for some time, until I can reinstall MS-DOS 6.x onto it (I'll later reinstall Windows 95 among other things, but that will have to wait - I'm reinstalling everything in the original order).

However, I will post the specifications here, for those of you who want to know.

Original specifications:
AMD AM486DX4 processor at 100 Mhz
8 MB of RAM
Trident VGA video card*
GoldStar Prime IIc multifunction card*
ESS AudioDrive sound card*
SupraExpress 33.6 baud rate modem*
Toshiba 8x CD-ROM drive (replacement for earlier Mitsumi Quad Speed proprietary CD-ROM drive with adaptor card; this was installed in around April or May 2001)
1.2 MB floppy disk drive (removed upon the system's "rebuilding", when it was significantly updated sometime in 1996, probably around May that year, when even the old case was replaced with a new one from the "ARC Electronics" shop, probably just as proof of their work)
Teac 1.44 MB floppy disk drive
Conner (Seagate branded) CABO 540 MB hard drive (replacement for earlier hard drive)
RIC/"Pixie" 13 inch or 14 inch monitor (replacement for SuperCOM SuperTRON SVGA monitor, which had developed a temporary green tint since 1999, replaced in around early March 2001, since we originally mistook the system's graphics problems as being that of the monitor, when in reality, the Trident VGA video card had become loose; this was also fixed in around April or May 2001 when the CD-ROM drive was replaced)
Mouse Systems AT keyboard with matching serial mouse (replacement for AST Advantage! PS/2 keyboard, used with PS/2 to AT/DIN adaptor, and PC Accessories serial mouse with mode switching, with Mouse Systems mode being one of the modes availale, since the old keyboard had a stuck "G" key problem, as in "GGGGGGGG" instead of just simply "G" whenever that particular key was pressed)
Labtec stereo speakers
Lexmark ink jet printer (replacement for Epson printer, apparently)
Microsoft MS-DOS 6.x (most likely MS-DOS 6.0)/Windows 95 (upgraded from Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Windows 3.x files not kept upon original hard drive replacement due to the reinstallation of Windows and much of the software that followed)/Works 4.0 for Windows (originally upgraded from Works 3.0 for Windows, before original upgrade)/Internet Explorer 3.0.
*Note that all adaptor boards are ISA

Temporary specifications (note the the original will be added back in as much as possible, but slowly and over time):
Intel Pentium processor at 100 Mhz
32 MB of RAM
Advance Logic PCI video card
Sound card with Opti chipset
Modem (not sure of the speed or brand)
Toshiba CD-ROM drive (most likely 8x or 16x)
1.44 MB floppy disk drive (possibly from Panosonic)
Seagate Medialist 2.1 GB hard drive (formatted to 503 MB)
Same operating system software as above will be reinstalled, including even Works 3.0 (alongside Works 4.0), even though it had long since been upgraded to Works 4.0.

Eventually, I'll purchase another Socket 3 motherboard online, preferably the same or similar one as my system already had before (at least until and unless I can get the old one repaired), but for now, I'm mostly focusing on reinstalling the software (until the original hard drive is working again), as well as adding back in the old adaptor boards (with exception to the Trident VGA video card, in case it's somehow killing motherboards, which I highly doubt, but still).

os2fan2 has a custom version of Windows 3.x, Windoze for Warehouses. You might be interested in asking her about that one.

Also, as far as other third party versions of Windows are concerned, there was an update to Windows Me from a Russian team where one of the changes was the readdition of default MS-DOS support, as well as the Esperanto versions of Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows 98 Second Edition.

Just because the wallpaper was posted earlier, doesn't mean that it's a fake at all.

Sure, it could have been a user modification, but it might not even be that (remember that the earliest builds reused the Beta Fish wallpaper from some beta builds of Windows 7, back before it was renamed from post-RTM Windows 7 to Windows 8, before Microsoft really knew where the project was going), also, remember that even the newest versions of Windows have wallpapers from earlier versions.

The wallpaper alone says hardly anything about the build (at least directly).

MESS is on a good way recently. They're not completely there yet (still some bugs with 386+, some DMA and PIC problems) but it's probably worth to keep an eye on them, they've been making good progress during the last weeks

MESS features (or will eventually feature) Hercules, MDA, CGA, EGA, VGA, SVGA (Tseng, Trident, ...) Adlib, SB1.0, SB1.5, Covox, GameBlaster, and even NE1000 and 3c509 networking, and AHA1542 SCSI.

It's better to just ship with selectable "styles".

I agree that letting users select a custom background would be a disaster ,but perhaps Microsoft could include some background pictures that work along side the styles. Because I think the one color looks awful. And stupid.

Just tried it, on XP SP2 with IE6.
Step-by-step guide for those who aren't able to do it:
1. Copy \windows\web contents from older OS (i've used Win98SE) and paste it into the same folder in WinXP
2. Import registry keys posted above by fiescort (simply remove comments, add REGEDIT4 on top, save as .reg and double click to import)
3. Restart shell (kill and launch explorer.exe)
4. Use ieshwiz to set the htt as folder bg - launch cmd, navigate to desired folder and run ieshwiz
5. That one did the trick for me: Go to My computer -> Tools -> Folder options, on View tab click on "Reset all folders" (or something similar, I'm using Polish-lang OS).
That's caused because XP holds folder view settings in registry.

The Setup Assistant is great!

I had created such a program before for some other purpose. (Actually, I used Advanced Installer to help me!) And co-incidentally, you named it Setup Assistant, I had named it 'The Assistant'!!

So, is this Setup Assistant coded or is it some 3rd party tool?

And a suggestion: Try to use this program as your installer. 'Click Once Manifests' sucks!

I hope you won't sue me over the name... J/K. The installer can be a bit of a problem, but we'll see...

I believe I can safely call it "an invention of my own". It's actually a regular tab control with the tab headers moved out of the client area (they are under the application's title bar). And when a button is clicked, it switches to the next tab (a.k.a page). It's pretty simple, yet effective, as I find it more satisfying than any other Wizard control available on the net.

And I never learned how to properly spell "wizard"... XD

I follow Coe on Youtube (Coe's Quest) He played it once, and I picked up on it. It's not a bad game setup, It's still indev. I like the concept though of WW1 Trench warfare with the minecraft style. It's fantastic!

There are 5 languages available, so... the iso should contain those language packs, hence it might be a little large in size
Hope the installation be faster. (actually I think the installation time of Windows 7 is fast enough, just takes me 20--30 minutes to complete it) Cant it just ask you on installation what language you want and only install that language pack and if they want to change it they can use the disk or if not, microsoft could create a language pack download

I'm thinking more along the lines of pe/installation disks that have been completely customized from the start. Kinda like those rubbish "Windows XP Black edition" things with the custom themes and such that would be there when you installed. I'm just looking for more weird windows custom builds like that.

Wow these are really nice! But I would still like a background picture for metro start screen, But I would like to know if the installation is faster and the ISO size has been reduced
There are 5 languages available, so... the iso should contain those language packs, hence it might be a little large in size
Hope the installation be faster. (actually I think the installation time of Windows 7 is fast enough, just takes me 20--30 minutes to complete it)

Title says it. I'm looking for versions of Windows with odd things cooked into them, or weird themes, etc. Maybe stuff like a Windows 7 disk with a Longhorn theme, or Windows 98 baked to look like XP. Stuff like that. I love these 'strange' custom OSes, and want to see a bit more of them.

Not entirely sure if this is considered warez or not since most of these disks bypass activation, but...

Someone ran Windows Vista on a Pentium at around 133 Mhz if I remember correctly (confirmed by WinHistory.de's page regarding various attempts made at running versions of Windows on lower specifications then they were originally intended to run on), so yes, as linuxlove said above, as long as your system has an ACPI 2.0 compliant BIOS ROM, it should work.

If not, then you might be able to download one from a website and flash it to your system (nearly all systems made within the last fifteen years will no doubt have a Flash ROM), but if even that doesn't work, your best bet would be to find another motherboard that's compatible with your case (most systems have ATX cases, making motherboard replacements easy, that is, as long as you have the knowledge and experience to restore your Windows installation once you're done).

My coming version will have all of the known Windows 8/Server 8 builds listed, as well as thorough synchronization between Client and Server builds (that is, for example, if Build [INSERT] was a build of Windows Vista Service Pack 1, it was also a build of Windows Server 2008, if Build [INSERT MORE] was a build of Windows 7, it was also a build of Windows Server 2008 R2, if Build [INSERT EVEN MORE] was a build of Windows 8, it was also a build of Windows Server 8, etc...).

It will also have the listing format updated a bit, and will also be significantly reorganized (the problem with the August 18th, 2011 release was that the more notes from various editors/authors there were, the more long walls of text you would see, so I've hopefully fixed that in the coming version).

The Setup Assistant is great!

I had created such a program before for some other purpose. (Actually, I used Advanced Installer to help me!) And co-incidentally, you named it Setup Assistant, I had named it 'The Assistant'!!

So, is this Setup Assistant coded or is it some 3rd party tool?

And a suggestion: Try to use this program as your installer. 'Click Once Manifests' sucks!

Well, I only said "certain Windows 8 builds", since it's apparently for the Windows Store, and the only versions of Windows on which the Windows Store is supposed to work with are the more recent Windows 8 builds.

Also, as far as I know it's theoretically possible (though not recommended) for a website to allow only certain operating systems, or versions of operating systems, to access it.

You still don't get my point: the page is private, so not just anyone with the latest build can access it...

And yes, the server can deny access if an OS version mismatch occrurs.

The build list (obviously) doesn't include the latest Win8 builds, such as Build 7989 or the Developer Preview (Build 8102). The list almost approches 7989 (the highest in the list is 7982), but since the build was leaked in June 2011, and list was made in May 2011, the list doesn't contain the build.

Bravo for captain obvious... I don't know about the status of tpemail's list, but WinPC said he will release a new version of his own list soon... Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's definetly a good idea to wait patiently...

I did download iFile as I thought it would come in handy. I like the resemblance it shares with Finder. I dare say that from my experience, only Total Commander for WinMo is better.

Alas, I ended up installing iTunes in VirtualBox, giving the VM read-only access to my library. Also, whats with the limit of 5 computers you can link your devine to (in iTunes) ?

For me Beta was better, BUT only pre-1.8 builds. New food system, and everything after that (changing from typical sandbox to mmo-like game) - I just doesn't like it. I have tried creative mode - but it's not the same as when I was building 100x100x30 cave underground on Y=5, using only TNT and pickaxe. On our server they were around 300 people playing before 1.8 update, then the number of players started to fall. For now, server is still running, but from logs I see that almost nobody is playing on it.

Much better from "Adventure Update" was for me MCMMO plugin for Bukkit - you've got skills from mining, falling, etc, and with higher levels you can eg. survive high fall, chance to mine something from dirt (glowstone, food, diamonds on higher level).

I'm a huge HL series fan, so I decided to find and give a try to HL Beta Leak. The version I got comes from torrents, it's named "Half life 2 - anon- hl2 -fixed - include patch and user guide.rar" and has exactly 1,3 GB (1343988170 bytes).

At first, I tried to launch it under Wine (yes, incomplete beta version under linux ) but the screen looked like a rubbish (ok, was my fault with wine opengl). After I fixed this, got working menu, but cannot switch in Video settings from OpenGL to Direct3D. After applying changes I just see OpenGL again.
Under OpenGL the only map I can start is d2_coast_04_dx60. On others it tells me in console that it cannot find map with _dx60 suffix.
Anyway, look at this: (slow as hell cause it's running dualcore atom)

Then I switched to my laptop. First, tried on Win7 x32, not working at all. Then, I set compatibility mode to XP SP3 - got it running, but had the same issue as under linux - OpenGL only. Next, I decided to install WinXP - and guess what? Got also the same problem.

So, is it my version corrupted (but I found a link on somebody's blog, with screenshots), or something driver/hardware related? Anyone had similar problems?

Oh, i forgot to write, laptop (well, subnotebook - FS p1610) has Intel 945GM chipset with GMA950 graphics.

You can do an OS/2 install from DOS, and disk images. It works from a cd even when OS/2 itself can't see the cdrom.

You need a directory full of disk images for OS/2. You can use any name, as long as you don't fiddle the diskette labels. Put all the disk images into a directory, say OS2-200. They need to be seen from DOS, because the files are created from dos.

Now, find a proggie on the internet, hight OS2HDD.EXE. This is a dos proggie, which puts the files into a directory of the correct name (based on the diskette label).

md c:\os2-200
s:
cd os2-200
for %f in (*.dsk) os2hdd %f c:\os2-200

When done, modify the config,sys on disk 1, to say 'sysinst2.exe c:\os2-200'

Reboot in OS/2 and feed disk 0 and modded disk 1, and you get a cdrom install.

You can install OS/2 2.x into either a fat or hpfs partition, and use boot manager accordingly. You can install 2.00 and 2.11 in any order, although chronological is better.

Here's a shot of 2.11 in VPC. The taskbar at the bottom is an external proggie, which can be used as a limited memory shell.

I am currently using Windows 8 Dev Preview as my main, day-to-day OS. Haven't found any unstability issues yet (it does crash once or twice on my notebook though, I reverted to the original Windows XP it came with after the crashing issue). Therefore I'm going to use Windows 8 Customer Preview as my main OS in my PC

If I get it I'll test it in a VM,
Wonder if it'll run on my PII 400mhz

I'm going to try that, hopefully my Pentium II system can still boot. It is equipped with 512MB of EDORAM, so I hope it will be successful XD

But - the "view new posts" link does not really seem to work either. If I log out and back in, the result is as expected - an empty list. A little later (I guess it must be after the session has timed out, I reload the page and get authorized through my session cookie) I'm getting a long list again, including my last postings which for sure haven't changed since I last visited the 'new posts' page. This does not seem to be right.

As I'm using several forums based on phpBB which have the "view unread posts" feature - is there a chance to have it here, too?

I have seen some of the most abysmal grammar and punctuation and spelling in peer-review documents (I'm a sophomore in high school) that it's not even funny. Blatant disregard for commas, periods, they're/their/there, etc.

Makes me want to punch things.

While I reserve seperate system configurations on which to run Windows 8 (seperate from the one where I carry out all of my personal tasks), I voted for "Spare partition", since I still consider all of these configurations to be part of the same system, not to mention that there are other purposes I have for keeping different hardware setups for running my system.

However, I also have a reinstall of Windows 8 running within VMWare Player (formerly VMWare Workstation), since I need a copy of it running within a virtualized environment, for the sake of taking screenshots of areas where the Print Screen key is disabled, or otherwise unusable (for my coming Windows 8 review, that is).

I have a Linksys router that doesn't have a stand on it, (I hate Linksys btw.) And it overheats A LOT. So hot it looses the connection. Well I put some legos under it as a stand and it runs cool and I don't have anymore problems. By the way you should check if the modem is the problem or not? Just a thought.

I have seen some of the most abysmal grammar and punctuation and spelling in peer-review documents (I'm a sophomore in high school) that it's not even funny. Blatant disregard for commas, periods, they're/their/there, etc.

Makes me want to punch things.

If there was a like button, I'd click that till my mouse broke. There are so many posts on here that have bad grammar (IE: no capitals at the start of the sentences and/or no dividing punctuation). The posts that don't follow grammar rules are readable, but just barely. Text speak is all to common too (IE: imo, imho, smh, etc...), and it gets really annoying when I stumble across a post and have to look up what some of the stuff means.

Anyway, sorry for the book, but those are my thoughts on the matter.

Please, for the sake of my sanity, use proper punctuation when making a post on this site!
I, as a future English educator, feel the need to read every sentence that has been posted as if it were written correctly. I should not have to spend a few minutes trying to figure out where the disjointed thoughts in some of the posts on this site end, and where new ones begin.
Example of bad grammar and punctuation:
and i told someone that this was a true thing that wasn't really as true as i thought i really like dogs alot i told my friend that once i ate a pizza and it made me sick but then there was this man who yelled at me for being really loud at this fair and nobody really understood me because there wasnt much of a point the the conversation that was being said and stuff like that lol <smily face smily face smily face smily face>(emote thing)
That's bad. It's not even legible. Do you write papers for school like that? I don't think so. I know it's an internet community, but please, PLEASE write with some dignity when you're posting. I don't care how old you are or if English isn't your native tongue\typing...thing, but still, try your best at this. You will not be taken as seriously when what you type can't be read properly in the first place.
Also, please make sure you're spelling your words right. I can let the occasional slip of the wrong form or tense, or the wrong homophone go past easily enough, but when you're spelling words wrong just because they aren't being underlined with squiggly lines (maybe they are, I don't know) doesn't mean they're right. If you're having trouble spelling words, then use a browser with spell check. FireFox and Chrome both do.
And don't get all hissy at me for scolding you. You're the one speaking English. Speak and type it right. The only way you'll learn to spell words right is by practicing them. The only way you'll get your grammar and punctuation right is by using it. This is _NOT_ a forum where we speak in txt speak. This is a semi-professional forum where we care what is posted. If you want to speak TXT, go to Facebook, Twitter, your own blog, or MDL, not here.

If you managed to follow the instructions correctly in the first few pages, you should have this working. You shouldn't need to open ANYTHING in VC++ or VS2005 or whatever, just get the source from the start of the thread, along with the pre-compiled binaries. A bit of common sense may be required to run the game using a command line (And if you cant do that and you're reading this, then wtf man.)

If this isn't working for some people (For example, you get a "General Protection Fault" or other errors mentioning source files), then it's safe to assume it won't EVER work for you. (Not on the computer you're testing on anyway)

I've played lots of unreleased, unfinished, buggy builds of Unreal games/engine tech demos and they're exactly that; buggy and unfinished. My past experience and knowledge of the engine tells me that there doesn't seem to be any specific reason for the game to not work on newer/recent hardware. I can get every game in the Unreal series (Including betas/alphas) working on my desktop (Running win7), whereas some people still struggle to get it working in win98/winxp/vista. I guess I'm just lucky.

tl;dr if it doesn't work, don't worry. You're not missing anything amazing anyway. There's no salvageable content (That I can get hold of) aside from music anyway. There's also nothing newer/older than what we've already seen.

I prefer to test it in VMware at first. And if possible, I may test on real PC.

Mainly I will get used to new UI and see what programs are there and what third party apps can be used, and that's what I usually do in VMware. Then I have a netbook and maybe I will write the ISO into my USB-flash and install on that netbook (I hope the drivers can be found easily. This netbook has Windows 7 preinstalled.)

The build list (obviously) doesn't include the latest Win8 builds, such as Build 7989 or the Developer Preview (Build 8102). The list almost approches 7989 (the highest in the list is 7982), but since the build was leaked in June 2011, and list was made in May 2011, the list doesn't contain the build.

The only reason I never used the WDP as my main OS is I could never use stand-by or hibernate properly. Stand-by would work, but resuming wouldn't do nothing. The fans would come on, but it seemed there was no hard drive activity at all. Hibernate just failed to resume from boot.

Hopefully this is fixed, I hate having to shut-down when I just want to go away for a bit and not waste power.

after these three commands wait and see what the tray icon looks like after hope this helps
EDIT: I'm an idiot lmao. For some reason it's Windows 7's driver issue. My phones didn't work because I reset the router before testing them. Reboot in to XP and it's fine.
There's always one.
I should have said I already fixed Windows 7 as soon as I clicked.

thats a interesting suggestion do you think it be stable enough for day to day stuff i was going to use W7 as my main OS and test W8 Beta on a VHD

I've been using the Dev Prev as my main OS since the day it released haven't had a single problem.

I also used 7 as my main OS starting with its Dev Prev 6801, didn't have any problems there.

I also started Vista as my main OS with Beta 2 5384 no problems there either.

I've never had any problems with Betas or Dev Previews as my main OS and I'll continue to do it this way until I run across some problem that makes it not work, but generally the publicly released builds are stable enough to use. Windows 9 will be my primary OS when its dev preview comes out too all the way until WinTen dev prev.

You need to judge when you're ready to apply based on your posts and the contributions guidelines. When you think you're ready you can apply but you only get 3 changes, so beware.
